Proposal: Treaty of Outer Space Guidelines

Postby jmsepe » August 2nd, 2017, 10:25 am

The Government of Teiko with the Government of Neu Westfalen would like to present the Treaty of Outer Space Guidelines as a general charter to the use, access, exploration and other matters related to the utilization of the outer space, the moon and other celestial bodies. We encourage other AIN members to scrutinize the treaty and write their comment in the link provided. This treaty is based on the United Nations treaty of the same name and has been revised for clarification and modified in the context of AIN.

The Jarrabanian Commonwealth wishes to sign this treaty. A bill concerning its ratification will be introduced to parliament next week. We believe that space should be used for peaceful purposes only and fully support the treaty in its proposed format.

As a nation with no active, or future plans for any space programs, we see these proposals as not limiting to our nation, but as a neutral country, and one which always strives for peace around the world, we strongly condemn Illium's space programs, and so will be signing and ratifying this treaty to help combat these dangerous possibilities.

We strongly condemn the actions of a fellow Alliance member, and see this treaty as a way to curtail the effects of these programs on us and other members, so Sint Cunera will be signing and ratifying the treaty.

With the exception of sanctioned weapons tests (mainly to study the effect of weapons in space, with AIN International Supervision), all operations falling under the jurisdiction of the Orbital Defense Research Division concerning the weaponization of space have been indefinitely suspended.

The Kingdom of Illium is prepared to sign the treaty with the caveat that a direct declaration of war by a sovereign nation capable of launching nuclear weapons at the Kingdom, Her Majesty's Kingdom, in the interest of purely national defense, will TEMPORARILY withdraw from the treaty. At the conclusion of any open declaration of war, the Kingdom is prepared to dismantle any defensive space weapons if they exist at the time, and re-sign the treaty if necessary.

Following much deliberation, the Jarrabanian Parliament has passed a bill allowing the treaty to be placed into effect. We, therefore, would like to formally ratify the treaty. Once again, we believe it is critically important that space remains safe and peaceful.

The Amurian Republic condemns any action to use outer space as a medium for military expansion. We are wary of Alliance members pursuing such goals. The Republic will ratify this treaty and strongly urge all remaining members to do the same.

Hi guys! Just bumping this thread for anyone who haven't read it. Since there is no deadline, I will add a deadline now:

SEPTEMBER 30, 2017.
So please comment and respond before that time so that I may be able to generate a list of signatories and we can officially en force the treaty as agreed among signatories.

Thanks.
